-
Team shirts and shorts must be worn
at all meets.
-
Practices will be held at all times
unless a coach contacts you or you receive an email.
-
All practices will be held at Glen
Cove High School track. If there is a football/soccer/lacrosse game we will
meet at the north end of the football field by the baseball fields
or at the lower field by the tennis courts.
-
No running spikes can be worn at any
meet.
-
Runners will participate in at least
2 events at all meets.
-
Please have runners arrive at each
meet 30 minutes prior to start time. If you can't, please let the
coach know so they can schedule your child appropriately.
-
Track meets are run in 2 sessions. K
through 3rd grade is first session then 4th through 8th. Each
session takes approximately 3 hours. At most meets drink and food is
sold. Please ensure you bring adequate clothing for your children.
In the Spring the weather can change quickly and there is down time
at the meets. You may also want to bring chairs if you are not
interested in sitting in the stands.
-
Most important meets of the year are
the Regional and the Championship. In order to participate in the
Championship Meet the runner has to finish in the top 3 in the event(s) they participate in. We ask that all runners make the
Regional meet a priority.
-
If the runners qualify for the
Championship, they must make every attempt to attend. We cannot
substitute at the Championship Meet.
-
At parish meets, we try to have all
runners go home with at least one medal.
-
If a runner cannot make a meet, the
coach must know 2 hours prior to the beginning of the meet. This
will allow the coach to make planning adjustments.
-
If a meet has to be canceled due to
inclement weather, the coach will contact each family 1.5 hours
prior to start time. If a call is not made, the meet will be held.
-
We need parents to assist at all
meets with track duties. Please notify your coach with your
availability.
-
Parents are not allowed on track at
meets unless assisting the coaches.
-
Please direct all questions and/or
concerns to the coaches. Under no circumstance should a parent
address any child.
-
We expect all children to act
properly during meets and practices. Fighting, poor language and
unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated. If it becomes a
problem, the coaches will speak with the parent(s) and the child
directly.
-
If you have any questions for the
coaches you can speak to us at any time. However, we ask that on the
day of a meet you allow us to coordinate the days' activities. You
can speak with them after the meet or call them at home.
-
Directions will be distributed
through email and on our website 2
weeks prior to the meets. Hard copies will be available as
needed.
-
Please keep an eye on your
e-mail. We broadcast information frequently.
-
Some coaches may have more
frequent practices as we progress through the season. Your coach
will notify you.
-
We want the runners to have fun, work
hard, learn to be part of a team and improve throughout the year.
Let's have a great season! Thanks....
